The Canadian Angus Association will contact the Angus Association of origin for imported animals to obtain DNA SNP markers and parentage reports. All imported AI sires and donor dams must meet the requirements for registration in the Canadian Angus Herdbook and requirements outlined under the CAA Parentage Verification Policy and Genetic Condition Policy.
A copy of the original certificate of registration from the Association of origin is required for all Applications for Registration of an Imported Animal.
- Further Application requirements:
If you are the current owner listed on the foreign registration certificate, this completed form along with a copy of the original registration certificate will be sufficient. - In the case that the animal being applied for is an AI sire, please note that all AI sires require DNA testing as per the current CAA Parentage Verification Policy and Genetic Condition Policy before receiving AI approved status in Canada.
- In the case that the animal being applied for is a donor dam, please attach the Application for Donor Dam Approval (CAAFORM30). Donor dams also require DNA testing as per the current CAA Parentage Verification Policy and Genetic Condition Policy.
